Eon 51 Heli Bar, Bitexco Tower, Ho Chi Minh City (We Visited)

The Heli Bar at Bitexco Tower in Ho Chi Minh is one of the best places to get views across the city.

Standing at 262m tall, at the time we visited it was the tallest building in Ho Chi Minh City, but it was later replaced in 2018 by huge Vincom Landmark 81 building, which is an incredible 200m taller.

On a (very) grey and humid day in June, Becca and I were exploring the city and headed up for a drink, as we’d been promised amazing views by the receptionist at our hotel.

Getting Up To the Eon Heli Bar 51

We entered the Tower but it wasn’t immediately obvious where to go. We asked one of the team working in the building who directed us to a lift at the back.

Even when we got in the lift it was confusing, as the lift only had numbers going up to floor 50, when we knew we wanted to get to floor 52 (which is in itself confusing as the Bar is called Eon Bar 51!).

We went as high as we could get, got out, and then entered a second lift which took us up the final two floors.

How High is the Heli Bar?

06 27 1

The Eon Heli bar is on the 52nd floor of the Bitexco Financial Tower which is approximately 200m high.

How Much Is the Entry Fee?

There was no cost to enter the bar.

How Much Did Drinks Cost?

Making up for the entry fee, the cost in the bar was expensive compared to other places in Vietnam.

We paid 218,000₫ (around £7 or $9.50) per smoothie and bought a bottle of water each which was 91,000₫ (around £2.90 or $4).

Alcoholic drinks weren’t much more expensive than soft drinks, with beers at 90,000₫ and cocktails at 210,000₫.

They also have a happy hour between 1300 and 1600 where select cocktails and wines drop to 145,000₫.

Is There a Dress Code to Enter?

There is no strict dress code, but it is asked that you do not wear flip-flops or tank tops.

Can You Take Photos Without Looking Through Glass?

Unfortunately not.

As you can see, my photos have lots of reflections and a bluish tint to them, this is because they were all shot through windows.

I could not find anywhere to take photos without looking through glass, this isn’t even possible on the Skydeck. The only place would be out on the helipad, but we definitely weren’t allowed out there!

What is the Difference Between Heli Bar 52 and the Skydeck?

As well as the bar on floor 52 there is also a Skydeck on the 49th floor of the Bitexco Financial Tower.

The Skydeck is accessed by a second entrance outside the building.

We decided not to visit the Saigon Skydeck as it has an entrance fee of 200,000₫ with no bar. We couldn’t see the benefit of heading somewhere which was actually lower down the building when we could go to the bar and spend the same money on a couple of drinks.

The Skydeck is also enclosed with glass, if it hadn’t been it would have been worth the money as the photos would have been fantastic.

If you do want to go to the Skydeck but don’t want to queue up for a ticket, book in advance using this website which will save you a wait when you arrive.

The Main Reason to Visit – The Incredible Views

The main reason to visit the bar is of course those sweeping views over Saigon River and the rest of Ho Chi Minh City.

I imagine these would be even better at sunset as the city lights came on, but it was a bit far from our hotel to come back here for the evening.

Below are my photos from our time at the Heli Bar, the views definitely made this worth the trip.
