Travel Gear Guide

I built this list with one aim in mind - to help you find the best gear for your travels, without having to search all over the internet.

Everything on this page comes personally recommended. A product only makes it on here if I have used it myself and would buy it again.

Bags and Packing

Osprey Farpoint

The perfect rucksack for travellers. Durable, comfortable and with a clip off daypack that can be used as hand luggage.

Karrimor Waterproof Drybag

If you're heading to a country in the rainy season or to a location nearby the coast a dry bag is crucial to keep your stuff dry.

Bagsmart Cable Organiser

I have had one of these for years and use it to organise all of the various cables, leads and accessories I have with me on a trip.

Pro Packing Cubes

Packing cubes save a load of space in your bag and also make it easy to unpack small sections of your luggage rather than everything.

Clothing & Footwear

Under Armour Charged Cotton T Shirt

Easy to pack down and quick drying make them perfect for travel. The only watch out is that they size them quite big, so buy a size smaller than you normally would.

Nike Dualtone Racer

Trainers are the most functional footwear for travelling. Comfortable, light and washable they pack down small when not worn. My favourites are these by Nike as they also look smart.

Kathmandu Federate Trousers

If, like me, you prefer wearing jeans, you'll know they are not a practical travel choice due to their bulk and slow drying. These skinny trousers are the closest I've found to a replacement.

Buffs are a great travel accessory and much more practical than a scarf. They are good for keeping your warm in the cold but also double up as everything from an eye mask to a pillow!

Under Armour Boxerjock

So much better than cotton boxers! They pack down small and dry really quickly after washing. They are made of 'HeatGear' fabric which is perfect for both hot and cold conditions.

Reef Ht Flip Flop

Flip flops are my backup choice after trainers when travelling. I like these ones due to their springy sole, comfortable strap and grip for wet conditions.

Gone are the days where you had to pick and choose which books to travel with. Just take them all! My Kindle is one of the first things in my bag when I travel

Anker Powercore 13000 Power Bank

When travelling, the next source of power is not always predictable. A portable charger resolves this problem. There are many available but this one strikes a good balance between size & power.

Waterproof Phone Case

Most people have a mobile phone with them when they travel. Mine is my main camera as well as a communication device. These case keep your phone dry in the worst weather as well as letting you take underwater photos.

Macbook Air 13-Inch

I always have a laptop with me when I travel for blogging, photo editing and backup. Having one that's portable is key and the MacBook Air weighs around 1kg and is less than 2cm.

Aqua Quest Monsoon Laptop Case

If you have a laptop on your travels you need to protect it from the elements. This case is completely waterproof and well padded to keep your tech safe in even the worst conditions.
